Video Gaming Chairs And You

A common question we get is what do you sit on while gaming? Personally I have a DX Racer chair, the black and white color scheme of it makes my set up come together. I find it to be one of the best chairs I have sat on while gaming, it suits my needs for the type of games I play on the PC. We work along side to provide you with some of the best Video Gaming Chairs around. Check them out when you’re done reading and pick up a couple chairs for you, the kids, or heck get your boss one!.  Now, you might be thinking that you don’t really know much about gaming chairs. My friend you have come to the right place, let’s talk about gaming some chairs!

Do I really need a gaming chair?

That is a great question madam or sir. We all love to play video games as a hobby. Unless you’re in one of the eSports league, in which case that’s your job. One heck of a job if you ask me. Getting back on track though. We typically have to wake up in the morning, go to work or school then get to come home and relax. Of course after you take sparky for a walk, so he doesn’t go to the bathroom inside, we like to game. A lot of people who own PC’s know this better than most but this will apply for console owners as well.

The idea of having a good gaming chair is a matter of  preference. Do you need gaming chairs? Not necessarily. Does it make gaming more comfortable and easier on your bottom half? Yes. Yes it does. As said before, Video Gaming Chairs are all about preference. Do you want something built for comfort or do you want something built more for ascetics? When you figure out what you’re looking for then the fun begins!

Is that built for comfort or for speed?

When purchasing a gaming chair, you should have a good idea of what you’re looking for. Is it more of a Pro Gaming chair or a Casual gaming chair. If you are planning on having a pretty long gaming session you want to look into something that has more padding on the bottom for your, well, bottom. If you are a casual gamer, there is no judgment here, then it wouldn’t matter as much.

Just like the video games that we play there are plenty of different Video Gaming Chairs that will suit what you are looking for. If you’re more into fighters, racing games or shooters, you can take a look into the racing bucket chairs with the individual color schemes. Not only will that help immerse you a little bit more but the in your face color of your chair will get you pumped up to go win some matches. If you’re into puzzle games, RPG’s, or platformers perhaps a more laid back, fluffier type of chair would be your speed. Such as an office chair. They are designed for hours of sitting and would be perfect for you to sit down and level up your character to 100 and beyond!

Musical chairs

When you’re serious about gaming or at least just want to be seriously comfortable while watching a screen, you want to at least check out a couple of different chairs. That begs the question. Did I leave the oven on? Also, how many types of chairs are there?! There are at least 4 different type of chairs. You have:

All of these different kinds of chairs have their own “perks” if you will. The PC and racing gaming chairs would be more geared towards sitting in front of a PC of course. They would be more what someone would first think of while thinking of a video gaming chair. An upright chair with wheels and cushions on the bottom and the back. It is more of a preference of which one to choose. The racing chair keeps you locked in for the most part and traditional PC gaming chairs are more like office chairs. You can move around a little bit, let’s face it some of us need a little elbow room to duck and move while playing. You know who you are.

The two that would stand out like sore thumbs and are mostly better for console gaming would be the rocking chair and the bean bag chair. Think about trying to play a PC game while sitting on a bean bag chair. Exactly. Not happening. The rocking chair is really for those who get into their gaming session. You can swivel as much as you need to in your comfy chair and not need to worry about falling over. The bean bag chair might be the best thing for casual gamers. The bean bag chair is easy to move around and can kind of be put aside if not being used. It’s like you’re in college again, or if you’re in college you know what we’re talking about. When in use you can just sit back, relax and crack open a cold one knowing you don’t care that you just placed 8th again because Johnny hit you with a bombardment of red shells. Right before you were about to cross the finish line.

Final Thought

In conclusion. Do you need a gaming chair? Yes! Only if you want one and are comfortable with the purchase. There are no right or wrong ways to play video games, it’s all about having a good time. If you own a console, picking up a rocking chair or bean bag chair would help a little bit so you don’t have to sit 60 feet away from the screen on the couch. PC gaming, if you plan on spending hours on a session you’ll want to pick up a nice racing chair or PC gaming chair. We love everything gaming, as we’re sure you do as well. So, why not come up with your own conclusions. Pick up either one of these video gaming chairs or pro video gaming chairs we talked about and see how this will be another great addition to your favorite hobby.

  1. I know having a padded chair has made a huge difference for me playing games and just working on my computer.

I really like the chairs that are compatible with consoles as i have been playing more xbox recently, but I have been looking at some cool gamer pc chairs online which I think could be usueful.
Still not sure if I like having armrests or not on my gamer chair, do you have a preference?

    1. Looking into the perfect chair can always be a pain but I do have a preference. I love rocker chairs for my consoles, I have an Xrocker for my console gaming because of how it supports the weight of the gamer and the sound quality is perfect in my opinion. Best of all it’s wireless. For my PC I do actually have a racer chair. I bought into the fad and I’ll be honest it’s pretty comfortable. I have the DX racer chair. Personally I like that because I do play a lot more racer games on my PC than my consoles and it fits my back perfectly!

  2. Al,
Have two gaming chairs. One for the computer and one for the console. I took the arms off of the one for the computer so I could swing my arms more when in combat.
The console has a rocker chair with built in speakers, they work remotely without cables. This is a very comfortable chair for gaming and the sound is great. I just don’t think I could play a game from a beanbag chair.
Do you think that having a built in sound system will give slower response times for those with headsets.

    1. I see you take your gaming seriously, that is great! It is always good to be as comfortable as possible in front of the PC or TV. I have had a XRocker myself and that chair did not give me any problems with response times with my buddies who were using headsets. The only draw back is it was expensive. It depends on the type of chair you have. I know that the pulse boom chair has had some problems with connecting and had some slower response times but nothing too bad. All and all having the built in sound system shouldn’t give slower response times to your friends but it really does boil down to which chair you have.

  3. I’ve been looking for a new, comfortable, easy-to-put together chair for gaming and for my computer desk, the chair that I have right now really sucks, and it’s making my back work overtime. I’m not sure what I want just yet , but I do know that I want a chair that has multiple functions.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    1. A chair that is a pain in the back is a pain in the neck. Me personally I love my DX Racer gaming chair. It is comfortable and I am able to sit in it for hours on end. But, it may not be the best for your back. I would say to also check out the Merax High-back Ergonomic Pu Swivel Chair. It has some pretty great lumbar support and an extra head cushion. You might even fall asleep in it. Let me know how your chair hunting goes!

  4. Great information. I want to buy a new office chair. I will use this article when I am about to do it.
    Thank you!

    1. Thanks Ivan! I am glad this was able to help you out. Let me know if you have any questions on anything. Happy buying!

  5. You said “There are no right or wrong ways to play video games”. I feel relieved about this. My grandmother died a few years ago but my family never had the money to honor her with a proper burial. Occasionally, I like to celebrate her life by using her corpse as a gaming chair while blasting through Halo: Combat Evoloved’s last mission “The Maw” on Legendary and pretending her lifeless body is actually the warthog in which Madter Chief is riding. Nothing is more gratifying than when I reach the end and feel her hip start to give way. Also, cool site.

    1. I think that’s great you honor your Grandmother in that way. Just make sure when you go to high five Grandma, you don’t hit too hard. Other wise, what are you going to sit on? If anything happens to your Grandma chair I think you should take a look at Chairs4Gaming. I have a couple links to them. They’re no Grandma but I think they may be a bit more comfortable. Thanks for the comment!

  6. I need a new chair for my game room and was thinking about getting a chair with speakers in it. Do you happen to know if there are any gaming chairs that have speakers in them?

    1. Hi Garen,
Thank you for checking out my article. Actually yes! There is a chair called the XRocker. A lot of people use this chair for their game rooms because of its comfort and how it connects to their systems. There are built-in speakers in the headpiece of the chair, I actually wrote a piece on it on another article here- Check it out and let me know how you like your new chair! Thanks for the comment!
